The English and Foreign Languages University is a Central University located in Hyderabad in the Indian State of Telangana. This University is dedicated to the studies of English and other foreign languages. Moreover, there are other two campuses at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and Shillong, Meghalaya. The Hyderabad campus of the English and Foreign Languages University was established in 1958 as the Central Institute of English, later it was renamed as the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. This University was upgraded as a Central University in 2006 and accordingly it came to be known as the English and Foreign Languages University.

This centre of higher studies conducts advanced research and training in English and foreign languages like Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, and Turkish in the areas of Teacher Education, Literature, Linguistics, Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies. The Hyderabad campus is one of the oldest campuses of this University having 7 schools with 26 departments offering various undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programmes in English, Arabic, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Linguistics, Journalism and Mass Communication, Teaching of English as a Second Language and Japanese.
