The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) administers the Awareness in Computer Concepts (ACC) course. Previously, the NIELIT would function under the name Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Classes (DOEACC). The NIELIT comes under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT) which is part of the Government of India. To apply for the NIELIT ACC program, the aspirants should visit the official website https://student.nielit.gov.in/.

The objective of the ACC program is to familiarize the students with basic computer knowledge. The course equips them to operate computers, create documents via a word processor, browse the Internet, gain an understanding of e-governance applications, and access email accounts, among others.

The ACC course is conducted over a period of 20 hours – including 9 hours of theory and 11 hours of practicals.

The ACC application process requires the candidates to visit the official website and register online. Also, they have to create their profile and follow by submitting online applications. Refer to the following steps for detailed information.

• Browse the official website and click the ‘Apply’ Online’ link
• Select ‘ACC’ under the ‘Digital Literacy Course’ grouping
• Read the instructions that are listed in the Online Registration Form
• Provide the required information in the form
• Follow by scanning certain documents (like a photograph, signature specimen, and thumb impression)
• Next, they have to upload the scanned copies
• Select the ‘Submit’ tab and record the Application Number as prompted by the system
• Keep a print copy of the ‘Acknowledgment Page’ that the system displays
• Tender the Application Fee via the varied modes of payment – including Online banking and Card Payment
• Log in to their respective account on the official website
• Select ‘New User? (Registered Candidates)’ option
• Create your profile and give details as required by the system – such as Registration Number
• Subsequently, select ‘Lock Profile’ option
• Click the checkbox that appears on the ‘Declaration Page’

The students who are pursuing the ACC course have to appear for a computer-based test. They can apply for the exam via the official website. Herein, they should download the Exam Form, fill in the different fields, and submit their applications.

In a year, the ACC course examination is held several times. To pass the examination, the candidates have to score 50% marks. Only then, they are awarded certificates.

Before the examination date, the examiners upload the Admit Cards of the applicants on the official website. The candidates should download their Admit Cards by visiting the official website.

On the site, they have to click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ tab, following which the system directs them to a page where should select ‘ACC’ from the ‘Digital Literacy Course’ listing. Also, they need to provide certain details that the system prompts for. These include Application Number, Exam Name, Exam Year, and Date of Birth.

They can, then, view and download their Admit Card. More so, they must have a print copy of their Admit Cards. They must carry their Admit Cards to the exam hall so the authorities can authenticate their identity.

Additionally, they should check if all the details on the Admit Card are correct. Otherwise, they must contact the authorities for the necessary changes.

Following the exam date, the authorities declare the candidates’ marks on the official website. The applicants can access their results online by visiting the official website. Here, on the right side of the home page, they should search for the ‘View Results’ option and click on the same.

The next step is to select the ‘ACC Course’ from the ‘Digital Literacy Course’ list. The system, then, displays a page where they need to enter some basic details. After providing the required information, they can view their results. Also, they must take a printout of their examination results for record purposes.

The NIELIT releases the students’ results as grades, as seen below.

• ‘F’ grade (Fail): less than 50%
• ‘D’ grade: ranging between 50-54%
• ‘C’ grade: ranging between 55-64%
• ‘B’ grade: ranging between 65-74%
• ‘A’ grade: ranging between 75-84%:
• ‘S’ grade: 85% or more

The candidates who qualify for the ACC exam are eligible to receive certificates from NIELIT. The certificates are available on the official website after the declaration of results.

The candidates have to download their certificates after visiting the official website. Here, they have to select the ‘Download Certificate’ option that is viewable on the right side of the home page.

Thereafter, the system exhibits an Application Page that has to be filled by the applicants. The e-certificates are downloadable via Internet Explorer or Adobe Reader. Then, they have to validate their certificate by following the given instructions.
