by The Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) is an undergraduate law degree program. For gaining admission to the LLB courses that are conducted by India’s premier law colleges and institutes, the aspirants have to appear for the various law entrance exams such as CLAT, AILET, LAWCET, and LSAT.
Under LLB courses, two options are available. First is the 3-year LLB program that requires the candidates to complete their graduation to be eligible to apply. Second is the 5-year integrated BALLB (Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Legislative Law) course for undergraduate students. Nonetheless, several national law universities conduct this course over 6 semesters.
In India, the Bar Council of India regulates law education. Presently, the country has around 16 National Law Universities (NLUs), in addition to other 100 law schools.
- At the onset, collect information about the exam pattern and syllabus. Also, gather books, online resources, and other recommended study material. Besides, note that the exam pattern changes every year, so remain updated about the related details and prepare accordingly.
- Before starting to prepare for the LLB entrance examinations, you must also draft your study schedule. More importantly, ensure that you adhere to the schedule. - During your LLB entrance exam preparation, you should practice with sample papers or mock tests. Remember to never give up practice until the end.
- Keep in mind that law studies can take up several crucial years of your life. Thus, be sure that you have an interest in the subject and are ready to develop a career in the discipline beforehand.
- Take steps to improve your English grammar and comprehension skills for excelling in the law entrance exams.
- Become familiar with the nature of the exam. For example, you must know that current affairs should be stressed upon more than Static GK. Also, critical reasoning should be given more importance than logical reasoning. A good way to know more about the LLB entrance exams is to consult experienced guides or teachers.
- As part of your LLB preparation, you must focus equally on all sections of the question papers – such as mathematics, logical & critical reasoning, reading comprehension, reading speed, and current affairs.
- Indulge in Group Study to prepare for the General Knowledge section. All the same, you all must discuss current affairs and put forth your different perspectives for greater understanding.
- Keep motivating yourself periodically by reminding yourself about the reasons why you opted to have a career in law.
- Avail the option of coaching courses if you find the need to do so. However, choose a reputed coaching institute and only after thorough research.
- Take breaks at regular intervals to relax your mind. In turn, you can focus better too.
