Bihar Teachers Eligibility Test (Bihar TET)

The Bihar Teachers Eligibility Test (Bihar TET) is held every year in the Indian state of Bihar at the state level by the Bihar School Examination Board. Any BEd qualified teacher can apply to Bihar TET to become eligible for teaching classes at Primary Levels (classes 1st to 5th) and Upper Primary Levels (classes 6th to 8th). For teaching Primary Levels, the aspirants must apply for Bihar TET Paper-I; and for teaching Upper Primary Levels, they have to apply for Bihar TET Paper-II. The aspiring candidates who want to apply for teacher positions at both levels have to apply for Paper-I and Paper-II.

To qualify Bihar TET, the candidate should score 60% marks. Qualifying the Bihar TET Paper-I and Paper-II leads to the ‘Eligibility Certificate’, following which the candidate can apply for teacher vacancies in government-managed and privately-owned schools in Bihar.

The candidates who are eligible are only advised to apply for Bihar TET. Also, they must apply only after reading the given instructions to understand the application process.

Bihar TET: Eligibility Criteria

Refer to the below-listed details to know about the eligibility norms for Bihar TET Paper-I and Bihar-II.

For Paper-I

The candidate should clear 12th standard exams with minimum 45% aggregate marks. Also, they are required to pass or must be appearing for the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Or

He/she must pass the 12th standard exams, having scored at least 50% aggregate marks. More so, they have to pass the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education or the 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). Even if the applicant is pursuing the above-mentioned programs, they are invited to apply.

For Paper-II

The aspirant has to secure degrees such as the BCom/BA/BSc ones and complete or be pursuing the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Or

He/she has to have a BSc/BCom/BA degree with 45% aggregate marks and pass the 1-year Bachelor in Education or Bachelor in Education (Special Education). The aspirants who are pursuing the above-listed courses can apply too.

Or

They have to pass 12th standard exams, having 50% aggregate marks. Moreover, they should pass or be pursuing the 4-year BAEd or BScEd courses. If they are appearing for the above-mentioned programs, then they can apply as well.

Bihar TET: Application Process

For applying to Bihar TET, the candidates must fill the required particulars in the online application form that is made available on the official website. Registration is the first step in the application process where they have to provide some basic details – including valid email address and phone number.

Upon completing the registration process, they receive an email on the given email address about their login credentials. They can, then, sign in to their respective accounts with the login details for accessing the application form.

After filling the application form, they must proceed with uploading scanned copies of their signature specimen and photograph. Additionally, paying the application fee is compulsory for processing their applications.

The final steps in the application process include reviewing their applications and, then, selecting the ‘Submit’ tab to submit their applications. Also, they must take a printout of the ‘Confirmation Page’ for later reference.

Bihar TET: Admit Card

The Bihar TET authorities issue Admit Cards to the eligible candidates for helping to ascertain the candidate’s identity in the exam hall. Hence, the applicants are required to produce their Admit Cards at the exam venue.

To gain access to the Admit Cards, the aspirants have to browse the official website. They are notified about the dates on which they can download their Admit Cards by the authorities.

Upon visiting the site, they must click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ option and enter a few basic details. The Admit Cards can be seen on the screen after they enter the required details. Thereafter, they can download their respective Admit Cards.

Bihar TET: Exam Pattern

Both Paper-I and Paper-II run for a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes each. In the given duration, they must answer 150 multiple-choice questions where 4 options are given for each question. By selecting the right option, the applicants gain 1 mark. However, for selecting incorrect options, no negative marks are deducted.

Paper-I contains 150 questions that are divided into five sections. These include Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Language-I, Language-II, and Child Development. Each section of Paper-I carries 30 marks, taking the total tally to 150 marks.

Paper-II has 150 questions that are grouped into four sections. These include Child Pedagogy (with 30 marks), Mathematics & Science for Mathematics and Science teachers respectively or Social Science for Social Science teachers (with 60 marks), Language-I (with 30 marks), and Language-II (with 30 marks).

Bihar TET: Merit List and Exam Result

Following the exam, the examining authorities release the Bihar TET Merit Card and Exam Result. To check their results, the candidates must visit the official website, following which they must enter their Registration Number and other basic details for the system to display their results. However, they must maintain a print copy for their records.

The candidates who clear the exam become eligible for Counseling as per the Merit List. They are invited by the respective colleges for the counseling rounds.
