The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science And Technology (NERIST) convenes the NERIST Entrance Exam (NEE). Eligible aspirants who want admissions in the BTech courses in various streams can apply for NEE. NEE is held at varied centers, extending to the states of Sikkim, Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. The NERIST executes the exam in three varying levels. These include the Base level (NEE-I with 200 seats), Diploma level (NEE-II seats, 30 seats), and Degree level (NEE-III, 72 seats).
NEE: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for NEE, the applicants have to meet the below-listed eligibility criteria.
- The general category students have to be at least 23 years to apply. In the case of female and OBC candidates, they should be minimum 26 years. And if applying via the scheduled caste categories, they must be 28 years to be eligible to apply.
- Aspiring candidates should pass the Class 10+2 exam, having main subjects such as Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and Physics.
- If seeking entry via the NEE (Vocational) exam, they should pass the Class 10+2 (Vocational) examination, or complete ITI courses, in any of the relevant branches. These include Electrical Technology, Farm Equipment, Civil Engineering, Food Processing, Automobile Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, among others.

The NEE question paper has a duration of 3 hours, containing 150 multiple-choice questions.
Pattern of NEE (PCM)
If looking for admission in the Diploma Module of Technology stream, the candidates have to attempt the following three sections.
Section A: Physics
Section B: Chemistry
Section C: Mathematics
Pattern of NEE (Vocational)
The NEE (Vocational) exam contains four sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, and Section D.
Section D is divided into two sections:
Section D (a): Common Engineering Sciences
Section D (b): Engineering subject
Pattern of NEE (PCB)
This exam is relevant for candidates who are applying for the 4-year degree program in Forestry. They should pass the Class 10+2 exam- having Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as main subjects – to be eligible. The question paper comprises three sections: Section A, Section B, and Section C.
NEE: Admission Process
As part of the NEE application process, the applicants should download the online application form from the official website, www.neeonline.ac.in.
The first step is to register on the official website, following the sharing of a few basic personal details.
The next step is to login to their registered accounts. Then, they must access the online application form. They can fill in the mandatory information over one or many settings but before the given deadline.
The scheduled category candidates have to enter the reservation code after selecting from the given options in the drop-down menu.
The candidates also have to carry their educational documents to the counseling sessions, so the concerned authorities can verify the same.
Moreover, they are required to pay the application fee, which is non-refundable.
Importantly, they cannot make any changes to the filled application form after submission.
The qualifying candidates receive Admit Cards which they have to carry to the exam hall.
They must also check the official website regularly to check the counseling dates and other important notifications.
