Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is situated in Pittsburgh city in Pennsylvania in the US and comes under the US Education System that has immensely contributed to make the world a better place via knowledge, research, and empowerment.

The founder of this private global research university is Andrew Carnegie. He set up the institute in the year 1900 under the name Carnegie Technical Schools. Then, during the year 1912, this renowned institution came to be known as the Carnegie Institute of Technology and started conducting four-year academic programs.

Later on, in the year 1967, the institute merged with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research and was renamed Carnegie Mellon University.

Presently, the University has transcended international boundaries and set up campuses in Silicon Valley along with other global campuses in countries such as Australia, Africa, and Qatar.

The Qatar University of the campus conducts a range of undergraduate courses in diverse fields. These include Computational Biology, Biology, Information Systems, Computer Science, and Business Administration.

The Silicon Valley campus holds popular Master’s programs in Software Engineering and Software Management.

Courses

The University accepts applications for undergraduate and graduate courses.

The popular programs that pupils study at the University are System Science & Theory, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.

In addition, the University has provisions for specialized or interdisciplinary programs for undergraduates. These include the Quantitative Social Science Program (QSSS), Humanities Scholars Program (HSP), and Bachelor of Humanities and Arts (BHA).

Plus, the University offers ICC special programs for international students. As part of these courses, the pupils receive pre-matriculation and cross-cultural training.

Campus

The CMU campus extends to over 140 acres of land in an urban setting. Also, the campus boasts of state-of-the-art resources to propel the students’ overall development. Shuttle service, airy classrooms, laboratories, studios, and parking zones – all these facilities are available to the students.

The University, also, contains five libraries on campus for the students to avail. These include the Roger Sorrells Science & Engineering Library, Qatar Library, Posner Center, the Mellon Institute Library, and Hunt Library.

At the University, pupils also have the option of registering with different organizations to pursue their interests in cultural, religious, political sports, among other fields.

For students who have an interest in art, the University has art galleries that exhibit the artworks of professionals, too.
