The Maharaj Balwant Singh P.G. College (MBSPGC) started operating from the Varanasi city in India’s Uttar Pradesh state in the year 1972. The founder of the MBSPGC is Dr Vibhuti Narain Singh, who is the Maharaja of Banaras. He established this college to honor the memory of his father – Maharaja of Banaras, Balwant Singh. The MBSPGC was set up to cater to the higher educational needs of people hailing from the adjoining rural districts.

While the Maharaj Kashiraj Dharmkarya Nidhi which is traced to Fort Ramnagar in Varanasi manages the MBSPGC, the Maharaja Balwant Singh Shiksha Samiti governs the college.

At the MBSPGC, students have an array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses to pursue. The college has provisions for courses in the streams of Arts, Law, and Computer Applications.

Courses
The MBSPGC has provisions for courses including Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Law (LLB), Master of Law (LLM), and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA).

The various specialization options under the MA program are Sanskrit, Education, Sociology, and Hindi.
Also, the basic eligibility criteria for the postgraduate LLM course requires the candidate to secure an undergraduate law degree from a recognized board or university.

Amenities
The MBSPGC campus extends over 40 acres of land and has been equipped with modern infrastructural resources to facilitate the physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development. Some amenities that are available on the MBSPGC campus include computer hubs, playgrounds, conference halls, and lecture halls.

Additionally, the MBSPGC campus has a library that is stocked with a wide collection of books and other educational aids.
