Both the Bachelor in Engineering (BE) and Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) courses are professional engineering degree ones. Indeed, they are undergraduate-level courses that have a 4-year duration. The aspirants who successfully clear their 12th standard examination from Science stream are eligible to apply for these programs.
Internationally, the graduate-level professional engineering programs are grouped under 2 categories that are BE and B.Tech. The BE programs focus more on theoretical knowledge while the B.Tech ones are more skill-oriented and practical in nature. Even so, in India, Both BE and B.Tech courses’ syllabus and pedagogy are the same; only, they differ in nomenclature.

BE/B.Tech: Eligibility Criteria

Under the lateral entry scheme for getting admissions to the BE/B.Tech programs, the eligible candidates are admitted directly to the second year of these courses. However, the candidate must secure a Diploma in technical trades to gain lateral entry to the 2nd Year BE/B. Tech courses.
BE/B.Tech: Admission Process

Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE Main)

The WBJEE is a state-level entrance test that the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) conducts the state-level UPSEE entrance examination. Advanced Studies
The BE/B.Tech graduates who want to pursue further studies in engineering have the option of enrolling in the postgraduate-level professional degree Master of Engineering (ME) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) programs.
Similar to the B.Tech courses where the students have to choose from the given specializations, there are specializations in the ME/M.Tech courses as well.
