The KMC has the recognition of the Medical Council of India, the Australian Medical Council, the Malaysian Medical Council, and the General Medical Council of Great Britain. Plus, the institution has the accreditation of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs accreditation.
The KMC is well-known for being the first self-financing medical college in India and the first to follow the Public-Private Partnership scheme in India.
Initially, the college was affiliated to the Karnataka University. Later in the year 1965, the College was affiliated to the Mysore University. Then, in the year 1980, the College became affiliated to the Mangalore University.
The KMC contains various departments and constituent hospitals. Moreover, the College has collaborations with several reputed international universities for facilitating student exchange programs. Plus, the KMC has a range of research departments to make progress in the field of medicine.
Courses
Aspiring candidates can apply for varied courses in the medical field to the KMC. Among the courses that the KMC offers are MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), MSc, Doctor of Medicine, Master of Surgery, Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, PG Medical Diploma, and UG Electives.
Eligibility Criteria
As part of the eligibility norms of the MBBS course, the candidate is required to first pass the 10+2 exam with a minimum score of 50%. Besides, he/she has to appear for NEET.
Admission Process
As part of the admission process, the KMC conducts various entrance tests. Depending on the course that the aspirant is applying for, they have to appear for the stipulated entrance exams.
The KMC conducts the Manipal Entrance Test (MAT), Department Test (DT), MAT + DT, and National Entrance Tests.
Facilities
The KMC has a host of facilities to enrich the educational experience of the pupils. The Medical Simulation Centre is well-equipped with training and research facilities. More so, the college has a fully-equipped Central Library and well-equipped laboratories for carrying out tests and experiments.
