by The Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing (RAKCON) is a leading nursing college for India and the South-East Asian region. The College imparts basic and higher education in the Nursing domain. The College started conducting courses in Nursing from the year 1946 onwards. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare handles the financial affairs of the RAKCON. Initially, the RAKCON was conducting only undergraduate Nursing programs. Then, from the year 1959 onwards, the College introduced the Master of Nursing course. Also, the College started holding M.Phil in Nursing courses from the year 1986. And during the year 1992, the College started to accept applications for the Doctoral in Nursing course.
In addition to the regular academic courses, the College has short-term courses in Nursing as well. The Department of Continuing Education conducts the short-term Nursing programs.
At the College, young women are groomed into professional nurses; they can serve the healthcare needs of the public at large.
More so, the College is underway for gaining recognition as a center of excellence in Nursing by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
Courses
In the Nursing field, the aspirants can apply for three courses in Nursing. The BSc (Hons.) in Nursing lasts for 4 years, with 8 semesters. Only applications of women candidates are accepted for this program. And to qualify, the applicant should pass the 10+2 exam, with subjects including Biology, English, Chemistry, and Physics.
The Masters in Nursing program is for 2 years. To qualify for this program, the aspirant has to clear an entrance exam and secure a Bachelors degree in Nursing.
The PhD in Nursing program runs for 4 years. For qualifying, the applicant has to hold a Masters degree in Nursing, having scored at least 50% marks.

For the overall development of the pupils, the College provides an array of facilities. The College campus has a Library that boasts of a vast collection of books and journals.
