by During the year 1962, the School of Open Learning (SOL) was set up as a constituent college of the University of Delhi. SOL constitutes part of the Campus of Open Learning and was previously referred to as the School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education. The admissions and examinations at SOL are held as per the DU norms.
SOL accepts applications for undergraduate and postgraduate level courses in fields such as Arts, Science, and Humanities.
The distance education mode offers a suitable alternative to pupils who want a flexible medium of instruction for pursuing higher education and vocational training.
More so, the School has plans of constituting Study Centers in the Eastern and Western regions of the National Capital Region of Delhi. As such, they can cater to the educational needs of more aspirants who are seeking distance education options.
Courses
At the undergraduate level, the students can enrol for Bachelors’ and Bachelors’ (Hons.) degree programs. Besides, they can submit their applications for MA and MCom courses in postgraduate-level ones.
As per the eligibility norms of the undergraduate level courses at SOL, the applicant has to clear 10+2 exams in any relevant discipline.
Further, the School grants admissions on merit basis and depending on the candidate’s scores in the qualifying examination.
The College offers PG admissions under two groups: merit basis and entrance test. Half the seats are filled on merit basis; and the other half via entrance test, personal interview, group discussions, among other screening rounds.
Also, the candidate is required to secure a Bachelors’ degree to qualify for the PG courses.
Amenities
The School has a library containing a large database of educational resources to facilitate learning. Further, the School boasts of a South Study Center at South Moti Baug in New Delhi.
