Shyam Lal College (SLC) is traceable to Shahdara in New Delhi and was constituted during the year 1964. SLC is a coeducational institution and was founded by Padmashree Late Shri Shyam Lal Gupta, who was a renowned visionary and the Chairman of the Shyam Lal Charitable Trust. The College offers courses in the streams of Commerce, Arts and Science streams. Also, SLC is affiliated to the University of Delhi (DU). And the official website of SLC is www.slc.du.ac.in.
The College is focused on imparting quality education to the pupils, particularly females, from less-privileged backgrounds. Presently, the SLC is recognized as a center of academic excellence.
Courses
At SLC, students can opt for undergraduate and postgraduate level courses. The College offers undergraduate-level courses in the disciplines of Science, Commerce, and Arts. Also, one postgraduate program in Hindi is held at the College. More so, from the academic year 2017-18 onwards, the College started conducting courses including the Chemistry (Hons) and Mathematics (Hons) ones.
The College authorities conduct the admission process via merit basis. They consider the candidate’s marks on Class XII in a relevant discipline for the UG courses. The final selection ensures on the basis of the cut-off lists that the College declares and the performance of the applicants during the counseling rounds.
Though, for admitting pupils in the MA (Hindi) course, the candidates have to secure a BA (Hons) in Hindi. Though, the candidates who have scored 40-60% marks in the BA (Hons) program are required to appear for an entrance exam as per the DU norms. For candidates who score above 60% marks are eligible for direct admissions and as per the cut-off marks that DU releases.
