Overview
The Shyam Lal College (Evening) is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. The great visionary, Late Padmashree Shyam Lal Gupta, is the founder of the Shyam Lal College that commenced operations during the year 1964. And the Shyam Lal College (Evening) commenced conducting academic sessions from the year 1969 onwards.
The NAAC has awarded ‘B+’ grade to this premier seat of higher education. Moreover, the AICTE has accredited the College.
The College offers undergraduate-level courses in the disciplines of Commerce and Arts. In all, the College has 6 courses that the 8 departments conduct.
Courses
Among the UG College courses, the aspirants can select from the 3-year BA, BA (Hons), BCom, and BCom (Hons) ones. The students can choose from an array of fields to specialize in. These include Hindi, Economics, Political Science, Commerce, among others.
The College conducts the application process via the common application process of DU. The authorities publish the cut-off lists for the UG programs, following which the eligible candidates are invited to apply. More so, counseling students are held as part of the screening process. Based on merit, the admission procedure ensues.
Amenities
The College campus is traced to Shadra in Delhi. And to facilitate the candidates’ all-round personalities, a host of amenities are offered. The College Library has a wide collection of books, covering all subjects. Additionally, the College offers banking facilities and canteens.
Besides, the College encourages the pupils’ participation in various indoor and outdoor sports and offers the best amenities.
Among the various facilities that the College offers are included scholarships to meritorious students. The College, also, focuses on offering suitable placements to the pupils. Hence, a Placement Cell has been set up. The Cell organizes placement drives and invites companies to employ the graduating pupils.
