Education in India is managed both by the Union Government and states. Education in our country falls under the control of The National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). It is the highest organization set up by the Government of India with headquarters in New Delhi which assist and advise both the central as well as state governments about the betterment of academic matters related to school education, technical advice, along with enforcement of various educational policies.
There are various education boards in India in each and every state other than the respective state education responsible for managing school education. The National Open School (NOS) was set up in the year 1989 with an aim of providing education to those students who cannot attend their schools regularly and thus providing them an opportunity to complete their education. They conduct public examinations twice a year and have its regional offices at various states like New Delhi, Bhopal, Jaipur, Pune, Chandigarh etc.
The Central Board of School Examination (CBSE) is the primary governing body of secondary education in India which conducts examinations as well as look after the functioning of all the accredited schools. All the Kendriya Vidyalayas , foreign schools and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas along with all the schools in Delhi and NCT of Delhi are affiliated to the CBSE. The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is the boar which is responsible for Anglo India studies in India.
