Punjab School Education Board or PSEB, Chandigarh was founded in November 1969 through a legislative enactment of the Government of Punjab. It was established to administer the curriculum taught in the public schools of the state and conduct standardized examination, publishing of textbook etc. The board is headed by the full time chairman who reports to the Secretary of School Education.
The Board has to cover a broad spectrum of functions such as to make the necessary arrangement for conduction school examinations, to make the necessary arrangements for the affiliation of schools to the board, to make efforts for the qualitative improvements in school education and to act as an advisory body regarding the school education etc.
