The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS Entrance exam is conducted on a pan-India level for admitting medical students in the medical programs that the prestigious AIIMS centers located across India offer.

The AIIMS exam is one of the most popular medical entrance tests in India and is conducted to fill over 800 vacancies in all 9 AIIMS across India. These include AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Guntur, AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and AIIMS Jodhpur.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test, the candidate has to pass the Class XII exam, or any equivalent one, from recognized boards. Also, the general category applicants have to attain a minimum score of 60% aggregate marks in subjects including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Where reserved categories are concerned, they are given relaxation up to 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

Even if an applicant is appearing for the Class XII exam, they can apply.

  • Age Criteria

Aspiring candidates have to be 17 years, or above, in the year they are applying. No upper age limit has been specified.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Syllabus

This exam has questions covering Class XI and Class XII syllabus, including subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Pattern

This computer-based exam contains a total of 200 multiple-choice questions in various subjects, as seen below. The applicants have 3 hours and 30 minutes to answer all questions. Negative marking system is not followed for this examination.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: How to apply?

For submitting their applications for this exam, the applicants must visit the official websites. These include http://mbbs.aiimsexams.org/ and www.aiimsexams.org. The first step is to register themselves after furnishing the compulsory details.

The registration process has two stages: Basic Registration and Final Registration.

As part of the basic registration process, the aspiring candidates have to visit the official website, aiimsexams.org. Follow by clicking on the ‘New Registration tab’. Then, enter all the required particulars in the given format. Also, they must upload their photograph and signature specimen. They do not have to tender the exam fee during this phase.

Upon completion of the final registration process, the candidates are provided with a code for final registration. Using the code, they have to log in to their account and fill the application form. They have to give details about their academics, personal details, and professional background.

They also have to pay the applicable exam fee. They can make payment via challan or the acceptable online modes of payment.

After filling the application form, the applicant must check all details again before submitting their applications online. Keep a print copy of the Confirmation Page that the system displays after application submission.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Admit Card

The applicants who register successfully can download their respective Admit Cards from the official website after entering their application number and password. The Admit Cards of all eligible applicants are uploaded by the authorities.

After accessing their Admit Cards, the candidates have to check if all details are correct. Take a copy of the Admit Card also, for showing to the examiners in the exam hall.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Result

After conducting the exam, the exam results of the candidates are posted on the official website. The Scorecard contains the scores and percentile of the applicants. They have to only sign in to their account after entering their ID and Password, after which the Scorecard becomes downloadable.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Selection Process

To qualify, the candidates have to score at least 50% marks in the exam. The qualified applicants have to, then, go for a medical exam that a medical board conducts; the board is a team of faculty members that the Institute selects. If any candidate is deemed to be medically unfit, their applications are rejected.

The performance of the aspirants is considered, based on which the merit lists are prepared.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Counseling Rounds

The category-wise Merit List contains the names and marks of the candidates. Based on their ranks in the Merit Lists, they are called for the counseling rounds.

The applicants have to carry all the mandatory documents when attending the counseling rounds.

AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam: Cut-off Marks

Aspiring candidates have to score the requisite minimum score to qualify for admission in the AIIMS centers. The aspirants who are applying via the general category and reserved classes have to get at least 50% marks and 45% marks respectively.

The cut-offs are calculated on basis of percentiles because the exam is conducted in two shifts. The authorities determine the qualifying criteria as per the normalization procedure.
