Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (Assam TET)
The Department of School Education (also, referred to as the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) that comes under the State Government of Assam has the responsibility of conducting the Assam Teachers Eligibility Test (Assam TET). The Assam TET was last held in the year 2012 and is being conducted after 7 years from the year 2019 onwards.
The Assam TET is convened for determining the eligibility of the aspirants for becoming Primary Level (from classes I to V) and Upper Primary Level (from classes VI to VIII) teachers in schools across India’s Assam state. Thus, if any candidate wants to have a career as a teacher in Assam’s schools they can apply for the Assam TET; however, they have to fulfill the eligibility norms for applying.
The Assam TET includes two papers. The candidates should apply for Paper-I for Primary Level Teacher positions; and Paper-II, for Upper Primary Level teacher posts.
The Assam TET aspirants can apply via the official website, ssa.assam.gov.in.
Assam TET: Application Process
As mentioned earlier, for applying to Assam TET, the aspiring candidates have to submit their online applications via the official website. Beforehand, they must read the ‘Instruction Manual’ before starting the application process.
The first step in the application process includes registering on the site, following which they receive a mail on their given email address with their login credentials.
After receiving their login details, the applicants have to sign in to their accounts for downloading the Application Form. The next step is to fill in the Application Form with the required particulars. Moreover, they must upload scanned copies of their photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
Other than that, they have to pay the Application Fee as mentioned. They can make payment via online methods that include card payments and internet banking.
Thereafter, they should review their applications and maintain a print copy of the Confirmation Page.
Assam TET: Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should have permanent residency of Assam for applying to Paper-I and Paper-II.
Paper-I and Paper-II have different educational qualification eligibility norms as studied in the following details.
For Paper-I
He/she should pass Senior Secondary exams with minimum score of 50% marks. Also, the candidate has to complete or be appearing in the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course or the 2nd year in the 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) or the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education program
Or
He/she must complete graduation and pass or has to be appearing for the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) course
For Paper-II
He/she has to be a graduate and pass or be pursuing the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course or the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed)
Or
Graduate with minimum score of 50% aggregate marks and must pass or be pursuing the 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed) course
Or
The candidate should secure at least 50% aggregate marks in the Senior Secondary exams and has to pass or must be appearing for the final years of the B.A./B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/B. Sc. Ed
Or
The applicant must be a graduate while scoring minimum 50% aggregate marks and complete or be appearing for the 1-year Bachelor in Special Education course
Assam TET: Exam Pattern
The duration of both Paper-I and Paper-II is 2.5 hours each. Also, both papers contain 150 objective-type questions, having multiple options. The candidate scores 1 mark for selecting the correct option among the given four options. Paper-I and Paper-II comprise of a total of 150 marks each.
In Paper-I, the applicants have to answer five sections: Child Development Studies (30 marks), Maths (30 marks), Environmental Sciences (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), and Language-II (30 marks).
In Paper-II, the candidates are given four sections: Child Studies (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), Language-II (30 marks), and Maths, & Science or Social Studies (60 marks).
Assam TET: Admit Card
The Assam TET aspirants must ensure to have their respective Admit Cards at the exam hall. If they are not carrying their Admit Cards, the authorities will not allow them to appear for the exam.
They can obtain their Admit Cards by browsing the official website. Here, they must select the ‘Download Admit Card’ option, following which they have to enter details such as the Date of Birth and Roll Number. They can, then, access and download their Admit Cards.
Assam TET: Minimum qualifying marks
To qualify for the Assam TET, the candidate has to score the minimum qualifying marks that differ as per the category from which the candidate is applying through. Only if they secure the minimum cutoff marks, they receive the ‘Eligibility Certificate’
Assam TET: Answer Key
After 10-15 days following the Assam TET, the authorities release the Answer Key on the official website. The applicants can access the Answer Key to review their performance.
Assam TET: Result
To pass the Assam TET, the candidate has to score the minimum qualifying marks; then, they are declared Pass in the exam and bestowed with the ‘Assam TET Eligibility Certificate’ that has 7-year validity.
The authorities release the exam results on the official website. The applicant has to browse the official website and click on the ‘Download Exam Result’ tab. Then, they can view their results online. Also, they must maintain a print copy of their respective results.
