Chandigarh Polytechnic Admission 2024: Dates, Merit List, Eligibility

Chandigarh is a union territory in India that serves as the capital city of two adjoining states: Haryana and Punjab. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) that works under the Director of Technical Education of the Union Territory of Chandigarh is the appointed body for technical education therein. The DTE is responsible for conducting the admission process of the candidates to the territory’s Polytechnic institutes. In Chandigarh, a series of Polytechnic institutes have been set up to serve the technical education needs of the aspirants. Upon clearing the entrance exam, they can specialize in various disciplines, with the inclusion of engineering and non-engineering ones, at the Polytechnic institutes. The professional diploma courses run for 3 years and after successful completion, the students get diplomas. Armed with their diplomas, they can apply for jobs in their respective domains.

Chandigarh Polytechnic Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship: The applicant should be a resident of Punjab, having a valid Domicile certificate.

Age Limit: The specified lower age limit is 15 years

Educational Qualification: Should pass 10th standard from a recognized educational Board.

Admission to 2nd Year Diploma Engineering Courses (Lateral Entry): The applicant should pass 10+2 exam from a recognized State/Central Board, having vocational subjects. Or, they should clear 10th standard examination from recognized Boards, with 2-year ITI specialization.

Admission to 2 Year Diploma in Pharmacy Course: The candidate has to pass the intermediate exam in Science stream. The subjects have to include Mathematics or Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Also, any qualification that the Pharmacy Council of India recognizes as equivalent to the above-mentioned exam is acceptable. More so, the aspirant has to be 16 years of age in the year of admission.

Admission to 3-Year Diploma in Modern Office Practice Course: The aspirant has to clear 10+2 in any stream.

During May-June, the application form is downloadable from the official website. To apply for the entrance exam, the aspirants have to download the online application form.

The subsequent step is to fill in the application form and upload the necessary documents. More importantly, they should take a printout of the application form for future reference. Apart from that, they have to pay the application fee.

Chandigarh Polytechnic Syllabus

The exam covers 10th standard syllabus. The question paper contains questions on English, Mathematics, and Science (Physics and Chemistry).

There are objective-type questions that the applicants have to answer in the question paper. They can expect General Aptitude questions. There are negative marks for incorrect answers.

Chandigarh Polytechnic Counseling

During June, the selected candidates have to attend counseling rounds. There are 2 rounds of counseling. Depending on their exam results and ranks, they have to attend the counseling sessions where the examination authorities verify their original educational documents. After the allotment of seats, the applicant has to visit the allotted college to complete the rest of the admission procedure, along with paying the course fees.
