In the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, the Department of School Education, Chhattisgarh, has been appointed to conduct the Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test (CG TET) at the state-level for recruiting teachers at various levels: Primary Levels (standard 1st to 5th) and Upper Primary Levels (standard 6th to 8th). For applying to CG TET, the aspiring candidates must visit the official website, cgvyapam.choice.gov.in.
The CG TET is held in two stages that are Paper-I and Paper-II. If a candidate wants to teach Primary Level classes, then they have to submit applications for Paper-I. And for teaching Upper Primary Level classes, they have to submit applications for Paper-II. More so, they can appear for both Paper-I and Paper-I for teaching classes from 1st to 8th.
The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) lays down the guidelines for conducting the TET across Indian states. Also, the candidates must score minimum 60% to qualify for CG TET. Upon qualifying, they receive the ‘Eligibility Certificate’ that is valid for 7 years and qualifies BEd qualified teachers for applying to teacher jobs in government-run and privately-managed schools in Chhattisgarh.

CG TET: Eligibility Criteria
In the following details, the varied eligibility criteria for Paper-I and Paper-II are listed.
For Paper-I
The candidate is required to clear the Senior Secondary exams, having minimum 50% aggregate marks. Even they should have passed the 2-year Diploma course in Elementary Education or the 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education or the 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) course. Also, if they are pursuing the final years of the above-listed courses, they can apply.
Or
He/she must pass Senior Secondary exams with minimum 45% aggregate marks and the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Also, if the applicant is appearing for the aforesaid course, then they are eligible to apply.
Or
The aspirant must be a Graduate and has to pass or be pursuing the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course.
For Paper-II
The candidate must hold a graduation degree in a relevant discipline. Also, they must have passed the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or be appearing for the final year of the course.
Or
He/she should be a graduate, with at least 50% aggregate marks and complete the 1-year Bachelor in Education or the 1-year Bachelor in Education (Special Education) programs.
Or
The applicant must complete graduation, having scored minimum 45% aggregate marks and pass the 1-year Bachelor in Education course.
Or
He/she is required to pass Senior Secondary exams with minimum 50% aggregate marks and has to pass the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or the 4-year BA/BScEd or BA Ed/ BScEd courses. Even if the candidate is appearing for the final year of the above-mentioned courses, then they are eligible to apply.
CG TET: Application Process
The CG TET aspirants have to apply via the official website. First, they must register on the site by sharing a few basic details that includes a valid email address where they receive their login details. The following step is to sign in to their respective accounts with the login credentials for downloading the Online Application Form and filling in the required fields.
More so, they have to upload scanned copies of their signature specimen and photograph as per the given format. The next step is to pay the application fee; the modes of payment include Internet Banking and Card (Debit/Credit) Payments.
Thereafter, they must review their applications and follow by clicking the ‘Submit’ tab for submitting their applications. Also, the system displays the ‘Confirmation Page’ and they must take a printout to maintain a copy for their records.
CG TET: Admit Card
The eligible candidates receive their Admit Cards after the authorities process the applications. The dates on which the Admit Cards are downloadable is notified to the applicants. Then, through the official website, they have to click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ option, after which they have to enter the required details, as prompted by the system. Thereafter, they can view their Admit Cards and take a printout of the same.
Admit Cards have to be carried to the exam hall by the candidates. This is important because the examining authorities check their identity. Only after ascertaining the candidate’s identity, the candidates can appear for the exam.
CG TET: Exam Pattern
The duration of CG TET Paper-I and Paper-II is 2 hours and 40 minutes, with each of the papers consisting of 150 questions. The questions are multiple-choice ones where among four alternatives, only one option is the correct one. The candidates gain 1 mark for selecting the right option.
In Paper-I, the applicants have to answer five sections with each section having 30 questions and carrying 30 marks. The sections are as follows: Child Development, Mathematics, Environmental Education, Language-I, and Language-II.
Paper-II contains four sections and are as follows: Child Pedagogy with 30 questions and 30 marks; Language-I with 30 questions and 30 marks; Language-II with 30 questions and 30 marks; Maths and Science for Maths and Science teachers or Social Science for Social Science teachers (whichever applies) with 60 questions and 60 marks.
CG TET: Exam Result
The scores of the candidates who appear for the CG TET are uploaded on the official website. To view their results, they have to browse the site and select the ‘Download Exam Result’ option. Then, they are required to enter some basic details when the system prompts. After entering their details, they can check and download their results. Also, they must ensure to maintain a print copy of their respective exam results for their records.
