Delhi TET Eligibility, Application Form, Exam Pattern, Admit Card and Exam Result

The Department of School Education, Delhi, conducts the Delhi Teacher Eligibility Test (Delhi TET). The Delhi TET is a state-level exam for recruiting eligible candidates for teacher posts that include the ones at the Primary (classes I to V) and Upper Primary (classes VI to VIII) levels. Delhi schools that come under the Delhi Government authorize the exam. Thus, to become a teacher in Delhi government schools, the aspirants have to apply for the exam. The Delhi TET has two papers: Paper-I and Paper-II. To apply for Primary level teacher positions, the candidates have to apply for Paper-I; and for Upper Primary level teacher positions, Paper-II applies.

Some teaching posts are filled by CTET-qualified candidates. Even so, the applicants who have not qualified the CTET exam can apply for the Delhi TET. Note that qualifying the Delhi TET does not guarantee jobs as teachers, but is only a prerequisite for applying to teaching positions.

The candidates who successfully clear Delhi TET receive the ‘Eligibility Certificate’ that has 5-year validity. Armed with the certificate, you are eligible to appear for interviews of teacher positions that the Delhi state government conducts.

Delhi TET: Eligibility Criteria

For Paper-I and Paper-II, the eligibility norms are different, as studied in the following details.

For Paper-I

If the candidate is a BSc/BA Graduate while having scored minimum 50% marks and has passed or appearing for the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course, they can apply.

Or

He/she has to pass Senior Secondary exams with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

And

The candidate has to pass the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course; also, if pursuing the last year of the diploma course, they are eligible to apply.

Or

The applicant has to pass the 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education program; also, if appearing in the final year of the Bachelor course, they can apply.

Or

The candidate has to pass the 2-year Diploma in Special Education program or be appearing in the 2nd year of the program to be eligible to apply.

For Paper-II

He / should possess a BA/BSc Graduation degree with minimum 50% marks. Also, the candidate has to pass or be pursuing the 2nd year of the Diploma in Elementary Education program.

Or

He/she should have a BA/BSc degree and must pass or be appearing in the 2nd year of the Bachelor in Education program.

Or

He/she should score minimum 50% marks in the Senior Secondary exams. More so, they must pass or be pursuing the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education program.

Or

He/she has to pass Senior Secondary exams while scoring at least 50% marks. Also, if they pass or are appearing in the 4th year of the 4-year BAEd or BScEd courses, they can apply.

Or

He / she should pass BA/BSc with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Also, they have to pass or be pursuing the final year of the Bachelor in Special Education program.

For Paper-I and Paper-II

He/she must score at least 50% marks in the Senior Secondary exams. And they have to pass or be pursuing the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education program.

Or

He/ she should complete the BA/BSc graduation degree courses with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Also, they have to pass or be pursuing the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education program.

Delhi TET: Exam Pattern

As seen earlier, Delhi TET is composed of two papers that are Paper-I and Paper-II. Both papers have 150 multiple-choice questions where four options are given for each question and only one option is the correct one. If the candidate answers correctly, they score 1 mark. Negative marks are not given for incorrect answers. The duration of both papers is 2 hours and 30 minutes each.

For teaching Primary level classes from classes I-V, the aspirants have to apply for Paper-I. And the candidates who want to teach classes from VI-VIII have to appear for Paper-II.

Any candidate who wants to teach classes of both levels has to qualify for both papers to receive the Delhi TET qualifying certificate.

Delhi TET: Syllabus

For Paper-I, the different sections include Child Studies (30 marks), Mathematics (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), Language-II (30 marks), and Environmental Sciences (30 marks).

The varied sections in Paper-II include Child Pedagogy (30 marks), Maths & Science or Social Studies (60 marks), Language-I (30 marks), and Language-II (30 marks).

Delhi TET: Admit Card

The Admit Card is a mandatory document that the candidates have to carry to the exam hall. They can access their Admit Cards by visiting the official website after the authorities upload the same. On the site, they must click on the ‘Download Admit Card’ link, following which the system prompts them for some basic details such as Application Number and Date of Birth. After entering the correct details, the candidates can access and download their respective Admit Cards.

Note that the examining authorities will not allow the candidate to appear for the exam without the Admit Cards. The Admit Card helps to ascertain the candidate’s identity and thus has importance.

Delhi TET: Answer Key

The Answer Key is uploaded on the official website after the exam as well. The applicant can check the Answer Key on the official website for reviewing their performance.

Delhi TET: Exam Result

The exam results are posted on the official website by the examining authorities. Also, the candidates are informed about the dates on which they can view their exam results.

On the given dates, they have to visit the official website and select the ‘Download Exam Result’ tab, after which the system displays their results and they can download and print the same.
