The Government Goa has the responsibility of conducting the Goa Teacher Eligibility Test (Goa TET) that is held on a state-level every year in India’s Goa state. The aspirants who want to have careers as teachers for teaching Primary classes (1st to 5th) and Upper Primary classes (6th to 8th) in Goa are encouraged to apply for the entrance exam. The test assesses the candidates’ Subject Knowledge, General Knowledge and teaching abilities.
The Goa TET is a preliminary exam and considered to be a minimum qualification for eligible aspirants for teaching positions in Goa, after completing their graduation (Bachelors in Education course). The Goa TET qualifies the candidates to teach classes I to VIII in Goa’s public schools.
Upon qualifying the Goa TET, the successful applicants get the ‘Eligibility Certificate’ that has 5-year validity.
The Goa TET consists of 2 papers. Paper-I is held for Primary level (classes I to V) teaching candidates and the difficulty level is of secondary level. Paper-II is for Secondary level (classes VI to VIII) teaching classes and the difficulty level if of senior secondary level.

Goa TET: Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for Paper-I and Paper-II for Goa TET vary, as seen in the following details.
Paper-I
He / she has to secure graduation degree, with at least 50% marks
Or
He / she should score minimum 50% marks in the Senior Secondary exam or complete the 2-year Diploma course in Elementary Education
Or
He / she should pass 12th standard exam (or any other equivalent qualification) with a minimum score of 50% marks. Also, if they have passed or appearing in the final year of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) program, they can apply
Or
He / she has to pass Senior Secondary exam (or any other equivalent qualification) while scoring at least 50% marks. More so, if the candidate has passed or appearing in the last year of the 2-year Diploma in Special Education, they are eligible to apply
For Paper-I and Paper-II
He / she should pass Senior Secondary exam, with minimum 50% marks. If they have passed or appearing in the last year of the B.El.Ed. course, they are considered eligible to apply as well.
Or
He / she should secure graduation degree with a minimum score of 50% marks. Also, if pass or pursuing the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education program, they can apply.
Goa TET: Application Process
The applicants who want to apply for the Goa TET have to submit online applications. For the same, they have to browse the official website, www.education.goa.gov.in. Here, the first step is to register using valid email address and mobile number. Thereafter, they receive their login credentials and can, then, login to their respective accounts.
After logging in, the candidates can download the Goa TET Application Form where they have to provide the required information. The next step is to upload scanned copies of their recent photograph and signature.
Then, they have to pay the Application fee via online or offline mode. Subsequently, they should verify their details; and after reviewing their application thoroughly, they must select the ‘Submit’ tab. Also, they have to take a print copy of their Application Form.
Goa TET: Admit Card
The authorities release the candidates’ admit cards on the official website after processing all applications. The candidates are notified about the same too. Then, they have to download their respective admit cards upon visiting the official site. However, they have to fill in the required particulars to access their admit card.
After entering their details, the system displays the admit cards and the candidates have to print the same. Note that admit cards are mandatory to carry at the exam venue. Only after checking the applicant’s admit cards, the examining authorities allow them to sit for the exam.
Goa TET: Exam Pattern
Separate question papers are prepared for Paper-I and Paper-II. The candidates who want to become Primary level teachers have to appear for Paper-I; and to become Secondary level teachers, they should apply for Paper-II. Also, to teach classes from Class I to VIII, they have to appear for Paper-I and Paper-II via submitting separate applications for each.
The tally of both Paper-I and Paper-II is 150 marks each.
In Paper-I, there are five parts where each part is of 30 marks. These include Child Pedagogy, Environmental Studies, Language-I, Mathematics, and Language-II.
For Paper-II, there are four sections. These include Child Development (30 marks), Language-I (30 marks), and Language-II (30 marks). Also, if applying for Maths or Social Science or Science teacher posts, the applicant has to answer the Maths / Science / Social Science section (60 marks), whichever is applicable.
Goa TET: Result
Post the exam, the exam results are uploaded on the official website after the authorities check the papers. To download their results, the candidate has to browse the official website. They must click on the link ‘Download Exam Result’, following which they have to input the required details. Now, they can view their results online and take a print copy.
