HP TET Eligibility, Application Form, Exam Pattern, Admit Card and Exam Result

The Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education bears the responsibility of holding the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (HPTET). HPTET is a state-level exam that is conducted with the aim to determine the eligibility of candidates for recruitment of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) such as TGT Medical, TGT Non-Medical and TGT Arts, TGT Junior Basic Training (JBT), TGT Shastri, and TGT Language Teachers (Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi).

With the overall objective of improving and standardizing the standards of teaching across India, the TET is conducted in the country’s various states. HPTET qualifies the candidates to apply for teacher positions in Himachal Pradesh’s schools. Also, after clearing the HPTET, the candidates are awarded the HPTET Eligibility Certificate that has 7-year validity. The HPTET official website is hpbose.org.

The various teaching categories of the HPTET are as follows:

  • TGT Arts
  • TGT Non-Medical

Note: If any candidate wants to appear for HPTET in more than one category, they have to submit separate applications for the different categories.

HPTET: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility norms for the various HPTET categories of the general category candidates are listed below. For the reserved classes, they have 5% relaxation of norms.

TGT (Arts)

He/she should be a BCom/BA graduate having scored at least 50% aggregate marks. Also, they should pass the Bachelor in Education or Bachelor in Special Education courses

Or

He/she has to score minimum 50% marks in the Senior Secondary exams and pass or should be appearing for the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.) program

TGT (Non-Medical)

He/she has to be Bachelor of Science Graduate (Non-Medical) with a minimum 50% score and should have passed or be appearing for the Bachelor of Education (Special Education) program

Or

He/she has to secure minimum 50% score in the Senior Secondary exams and should have passed or be appearing for the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education or Bachelor of Science (NM Ed.) courses

TGT (Medical)

He/she must be a BSc Medical graduate while scoring at least 50% marks and pass or has to be appearing for the final year of the 4-year Bachelor in Education or 4-year Bachelor of Special Education courses

Or

He/she should score at least 50% aggregate marks in the Senior Secondary exams and pass or must be pursuing the 4th year of the 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education or Bachelor in Science (Medical Education) programs

TGT Shastri

He/she should have studied Shastri from a board that the Himachal Pradesh Government recognizes

TGT Language Teacher (Punjabi/Urdu/Hindi)

He/she should secure a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, having Urdu/Punjabi/Hindi as one of the elective subjects and complete either the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or the 1-year Bachelor of Education (or Special Education) course

Or

He/she should have a Master of Arts (MA) post-graduate degree in Punjabi/Hindi/Urdu subjects, with a minimum 50% score from a recognized Board and must complete the 1-year Bachelor of Education program
TGT Junior Basic Training (JBT)

He/she should secure at least 50% marks in the Senior Secondary exams and obtain the 2-year Junior Basic Training Certificate from recognized educational boards

Or

He/she should complete the 1-year Diploma in Elementary Education or the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (Special Education)




HPTET: Application Process

The HPTET authorities accept only online applications. To apply for HPTET, the aspirant has to browse the official website. Here, they must, first, click on the ‘Notification’s tab and read the given instructions carefully. Next, they must register on the site by selecting the option ‘New Candidate Register’. Thereafter, they receive their login credentials on the given email address.

Then, they should log in to their accounts with their login details and download the ‘HPTET Application Form’ where they have to fill in the required fields. Additionally, they are required to upload scanned copies of their signature and passport-size photograph. Also, the applicant has to pay the Application Fee as prescribed. The different payment modes that are accepted include card payment and net banking.

They should, also, maintain a print copy of the ‘Confirmation Page’ after reviewing their application.

HPTET: Admit Card

Only eligible candidates receive Admit Cards. The authorities post the Admit Cards on the official website. On their part, the candidates have to access their Admit Cards by logging into their respective accounts with details such as Date of Birth and Application Number.

Admit Cards contains details such as Test Schedule, Test Center, Candidate’s Name, Photograph, Specimen Signature, and Roll Number. After accessing their Admit Cards, the applicant must check if all the details are correct; if not, they should contact the authorities immediately to make the corrections.

If any candidate’s Admit Card is not accessible on the official website, they should contact the Board’s Office and show them a copy of the Confirmation Page.

HPTET: Exam Pattern

The HPTET is held via offline mode, with the question paper containing 150 multiple-choice questions. For each correct answer, the candidate gets 1 mark and no negative marks are cut for incorrect ones. The exam duration is 2.5 hours. To qualify for the exam, the candidate has to score 60% or 90 marks.

TGT Arts

Under this category, the question paper has five sections: Child Learning, General Awareness, English Grammar, and Social Sciences

TGT Non-Medical

This category has four sections: Child Studies, General Awareness, Maths, and Physics or Chemistry

TGT Medical

This category contains four sections: Child Pedagogy, General Awareness, Botany and Zoology, and Chemistry

TGT Shastri and TGT Language Teacher

The Shastri and Language Teacher categories contain two sections that are Subject-Oriented and General Awareness.

TGT JBT

The JBT category has five sections: Child Learning, English Grammar, Hindi, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.

HPTET: Result

The candidates can check their exam results online via the official site. First, they should click on the ‘HPTET Result’ link, after which the system prompts for their details such as Roll Number and other basic details. Upon entering the requisite details, they can view their results online. Subsequently, they need to download their results and take a print copy for their records.

HPTET: Answer Key

Before declaring the HPTET results, the authorities upload the Provisional Answer Key on the official website. By doing so, the applicants can review their performance and calculate their scores.
