Meghalaya TET Eligibility, Application Form, Exam Pattern, Admit Card and Exam Result

The Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT) bears the responsibility of conducting the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET) that is convened on a state-level basis in Meghalaya. With the aim of recruiting teachers at the Primary Level (from classes I-V) and Upper Primary Levels (from classes VI-VIII) in Meghalaya’s public and private schools, the MTET is held. The MTET’s official website is www.mbose.in.

MTET comprises of two levels of paper that include Paper-I for Primary Level candidates and Paper-II for Upper Primary Level candidates. The aspirants who qualify for MTET are awarded the ‘Eligibility Certificate’ that make them eligible to apply for teacher positions across Meghalaya’s schools.

MTET: Application Process

The MTET aspirants can apply through the official website, before the stipulated deadline. Upon visiting the site, the first step is to get registered by providing basic details – including an email address. Thereafter, they get their login details on the given email address, following which they can sign into their accounts for accessing the Online Application Form.

The next step is to fill in the requisite details in the Application Form. Also, they must upload documents like copies of their recent photograph and signature. They have to tender the Application Fee as well; the various payment modes are Debit Card / Credit Card payment and Internet banking.

After completing the application formalities, they should review their applications and follow by clicking on the ‘Submit’ tab. They will, then, be directed to the Confirmation Page of which they must take a print copy.

MTET: Eligibility Criteria

The MTET eligibility norms are studied below.

  • He/she has to be an Indian National
  • The candidates’ age limit has to be in the range of 21-32 years.

The varied eligibility norms for Paper-I and Paper-II are seen in the following details.

For Paper-I (for general category candidates)

The applicant must pass 12th standard exams with at least 50% aggregate marks

And

Pass or should be appearing for the 2nd year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education course or the 4th year of the 4-years of Bachelor program in Elementary Education

Or

Complete the Diploma in Special Education course

For Paper-II (for general category candidates)

The aspirant has to secure the BA/BSc degree with minimum 50% score

And

Pass or be pursuing the 2nd year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

Or

Complete the 1-year Bachelor course in Education (Special Education)

Or

Pass or be appearing for the final year of the 4-year Bachelor program in Elementary Education

Or

Complete the Diploma course in Special Education

Also, if the candidate has passed the 12th standard with minimum 50% marks along with the 4-year BAEd/BSCEd or BA/BScEd courses, they are considered eligible to apply.

MTET: Exam Pattern

Both Paper-I and Paper-II are held via offline mode and over a period of 90 minutes. Also, each question paper contains 150 multiple-choice questions with each correct answer carrying 1 mark. Note that no negative marks are deducted from the candidate’s score tally for incorrect answers.

Paper-I contains five sections (Child Development, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Language-I, and Language-II) that carry 30 marks each.

Paper-II has four sections where three sections (Child Pedagogy, Language-I, and Language-II) total to 30 marks each and 1 section (Maths & Science or Social Sciences and any other topic) totals to 60 marks.

MTET: Admit Card

After receiving and processing all MTET applications, the authorities release the Admit Cards of the eligible candidates on the official website and, accordingly, informs them of the dates when they can view the results. The applicants can access and download their Admit Cards upon browsing the official website.

To download the Admit Cards, the candidate must select the ‘Download Admit Card’ link and follow by entering the required details as prompted by the system. Then, the system displays their Admit Cards that are downloadable by the candidates.

Admit Cards are important to carry to the exam hall by the candidates for the authorities to verify their identity. If they fail to produce their Admit Cards, they are not permitted to give the exam. Thus, the applicants have to ensure to carry their Admit Cards if they want to appear for the test.

MTET: Exam Result and Merit List

The candidates can view their results online after the authorities notify them about the same. Only they have to browse the official site and search for the ‘Download Exam Result’ link and, then, the system shows their exam results. Subsequently, they can take a print copy of their results for record purposes.

MTET: Selection Procedure

As part of the MTET selection procedure, the aspiring candidates are selected on the basis of their scores in the exam. To qualify, they must score at least 60% aggregate marks if applying through the General Category. Moreover, they have to attend Personal Interview rounds.

MTET: Certificate Validity

The Meghalaya Eligibility Certificate is valid for 7 years that means the patrons can apply for teacher positions in Meghalaya’s varied schools for the given period.
