PCS Exam – Preparation Tips

The recruitment of candidates for the various civil posts in India’s varied states is conducted by the particular state’s Provincial Civil Services (PCS) via the PCS exam. The Civil officers come under the jurisdiction of the respective state’s government and they cannot take transfers to a different state other than where they are posted.

Also, the salaries and pensions are decided by the respective state governments. The General Administration Department or the Department of Personnel is the state’s appointed agency that is responsible for managing and training the state civil officers.

Both the Indian Administrative Services and Provincial Civil Services are comparable. They were constituted with the objective of implementing effective administrative control in the country. However, they differ in service regulations in the country’s varied states.

PCS: Preparation Tips

• Study about the specific’s states history and geography. This is important because the Public Service Commission of each state holds the exam.
• Mentally prepare yourself for the PCS exam because the civil service exam is a tough one. Also, start early and allocate sufficient time for each section after checking the entire test syllabus.
• As part of the application process, the aspirants have to attend personal interviews. For the same, they must be well-versed with the local customs, culture, and language.
• To prepare for the PCS exam, the applicants must get enough practice by taking regular mock tests. They, also, become familiar with the exam pattern by doing so.
• Take measures to remain healthy. Consume a nutritious diet, exercise regularly, drink enough water, and sleep for 7-8 hours at night. Also, avoid taking exam stress. Take stress-relieving measures and perform yoga for your overall health too.
• Keeping in mind that the syllabus of the UPSC and PCS exams is similar, the aspiring candidates can appear for both exams simultaneously.
