by Towards the Northeastern part of India, the Meghalaya state is traceable; the state’s capital city is Shillong. In Meghalaya, vocational education is managed by the Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT). The DECT has 2 wings: the Training Wing and the Employment Wing.
As part of technical training that is conducted at the government-based Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and the privately-run Industrial Training Centers (ITCs), the students are given theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In accordance with the Apprenticeship Scheme which has a duration of 1 year, the pupils can put theory into practice, in the chosen trades.
The DECT has an Employment Wing that acts as the interface between companies and skilled persons. With the availability of skilled resources, the shortage of skilled labour in industries is reduced.
On the other hand, the Training Wing has the responsibility of honing the skills of the pupils; and provides systematic training for achieving the given objective.
With a choice in both NCVT and SCVT trades, the aspiring candidates have a wide choice of trades to select from. As per their eligibility, they can apply; and accordingly, they can attain the National Level Certificate or State Level trade Certificate. Thereafter, they can seek jobs at the national or state level, as per their certifications.

The vocational trade programs have 4 semesters; and for each semester, the pupils have to appear for the respective exams.
