In India, the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) and the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) administer craftsmen training. Students receive skills training after enrolling in short-term trade courses at the public and private vocational training centers. In turn, a pool of skilled manpower is created for serving the labour requirements of various industries.

An advisory body, the NCVT functions at the national level and provides vocational training for aspiring candidates. This body was set by the Government of India to oversee the syllabus of craftsman training. Also, the NCVT frames the policies and procedures for conducting the India trade tests.

On the other hand, the SCVT is part of the NCVT, functioning at the state level to implement the given NCVT guidelines.

In the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, the State Council for Vocational Training of Uttar Pradesh (SCVT UP) monitors the admission process of the vocational training centers. The official website of the SCVT UP is http://www.scvtup.in/en.

The SCVT UP does not convene an entrance test for selecting students for admission in the technical training centers. Rather the admissions to the vocational courses that the various government-run and privately-funded craftsmen training centers conduct ensue on the basis of a merit list.

The authorities draw the Merit List after considering the scores gained by the applicants in the respective qualifying exams.

Only candidates who are eligible for the stipulated vocational course are invited to apply. They must study the eligibility criteria of the programs and apply only if they meet the given eligibility norms.

Uttar Pradesh SCVT: Eligibility Criteria

• He/she has to pass Class VIII and X (or equivalent) from a recognised educational board
• If any applicant is appearing for the respective qualifying exam, then also they can apply for admissions in the UP ITIs
• The candidate is required to be mentally and physically sound
• No upper age limit has been specified
• No relaxation is granted in the eligibility norms for applicants who belong to the reserved categories

Uttar Pradesh SCVT: Application Process

To apply to the ITIs in Uttar Pradesh, the aspiring candidates have to follow the below-listed steps.

• The first step is to access the online application form by browsing through the official website http://www.scvtup.in/en or selecting the link http://admissionscvtup.in/apps/frmTraineeRegistration.aspx
• Furnish all the required particulars in the application form. These include the candidate’s name, parents’ names, date of birth, mobile number, category, among others. After filling the application form, click on the ‘send OTP’ tab.
• You will get the verification link on your mobile phone
• Proceed by typing the OTP in the blank box
• Select the ‘Verify and Proceed’ link
• The system displays 3 options: State, Private, and State & Private. Select from the given options, and then, click on the ‘Submit’ tab
• The system is, now, directed to the UP ITI admission application form, where you have to enter other important basic personal details. These include the applicant’s name, correspondence address, category, guardian’s name, among others. Select the ‘Save & Go to the Next Step’ option.
• The next step is to give your educational qualification information. Also, upload the mandatory documents such as specimen signature and photograph in the required format. Again, you must click on the “Save & go to the Next Step” option
• Here, you should choose between Group A and B, along with the ITIs and vocational courses. Select the ‘Next’ button, thereafter.
• The system displays a preview of your filled application form on the screen. Check if all the information is correct; follow by clicking on the agreement checkbox and the ‘Proceed to Payment’ link.
• The application fee also has to be paid as part of the online application process for admissions in to the ITIs in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh SCVT: Selection Process

• The SCVT UP authorities conduct counseling sessions for short listing candidates for admissions in the vocational training courses that the public and private ITIs offer.
• They prepare a Merit List, which is based on the applicants’ marks in the respective qualifying exams.
• The aspirants who are included in the Merit List can participate in the counseling and seat allocation rounds
• Several counseling rounds are conducted for allocating seats in the technical training centers.
• In case a candidate is not satisfied with the allotted seats, they can opt for ‘Float’. Then, they have to attend the subsequent counseling and seat allocation rounds for availing other options.
• If the applicant is satisfied with the seats that he/she has been allocated, they can ‘Freeze’ the seat. In such cases, they cannot partake in the following counseling and seat allocation rounds
• The final seat allocation result will be available on the official website. Also, candidates who have been allotted seats will be notified on their mobile number. They will get 6 days to pay the admission fees and confirm their admission to the ITIs. If they fail to do so, their application will be cancelled.
