Bengaluru North University is a state university following the recommendations of the Karnataka State Higher Education council (KSHEC) and the Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC). In 2009 a committee submitted a report recommending the trifurcating the Bangalore University to reduce the workload as the university has over 600 affiliated colleges. The university was established in the year 2017 by the Government of Karnataka through the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2015 trifurcating the Bangalore University by creating Bengaluru North University and the Bengaluru Central University.

It is located in the village Tamake on the outskirts of Kolar district, Karnataka. At present it has 210 affiliated colleges. Affiliation to the three universities is based on the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly Constituencies. The university will operate for the academic year 2017-18 from temporary office in the campus of Karnataka State Open University at Tamka and a permanent campus is constructed at Amaravathi Village Chickballapur district. It is ranked among the best universities of the state and offer number of graduate, post graduate and doctorate level courses to the students. The applications of these courses are released in the month of May for undergraduate courses, in the month of July for Post graduate courses and in the month of September for Ph.D. Courses. Students get direct admission for undergraduate courses but for the degree courses in Law, B. Arch, B.E is based on their performance in KCET.

Bengaluru North University (BNU), makes available the examination results of its affiliated academic programs on its official web portal. After appearing for the BNU exams, candidates who are awaiting their exam results are required to browse the home page of its official website to check their results.

Upon the BNU authorities declaring the exam results, you must visit the home page of its official portal. The next step is to search for the “Examination” tab and select the “Result” link from the drop-down menu. When done, the system will display your exam result on the screen. Follow by entering your login details such as “Registration Number” and “Year / Semester”. Subsequently, the system exhibits your exam result on the screen.
