Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) was established on 3rd June 1998 by the state Government of Maharashtra through an ordinance. It is a higher education institution in the Nashik District of Maharashtra. The main aim of establishing the university is to ensure proper and systematic instruction, training, and teaching and to provide research opportunities in modern medicine and the Indian system of medicine in the state of Maharashtra. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate studies including PhD in all the branches of health science.
The undergraduate programs offered by the university are five and half years in duration and the degrees include Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery(BAMS), Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery(BHMS) and Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) etc. Postgraduate courses awarded by the university include Doctor of Medicine (M.D) in various areas, Master of Surgery (M.S), Master of Science (M.Sc) along with other PG diplomas.
