Solapur University was established on 1st August 2004 in the Solapur district of Maharashtra. Formerly it was a postgraduate centre of Sivaji Univerity. The university now caters the needs of 60,000 students and is a hub of various academic activities. It offers Undergraduate, Post graduate, Masters and Ph.D. programs in various disciplines. At present, it has more than 60 affiliate colleges and institutions in and around the district of Solapur imparting higher education to the students. These colleges offer undergraduate and post graduate courses in faculties of arts, commerce, science, social science, law, management, engineering, computer etc. The university also has its own seven postgraduate departments which include physics, chemistry, applied chemistry, electronics, geology, computer science, Ancient Indian history culture and archaeology on its campus.
The university has student centric services and has the vision to become a dynamic knowledge centre and thus offers various facilities to the students under e-suvidha through which students can avail various services like employment assistance or administrative and facilitation services etc. The university conduct entrance examination for the various courses and offer on spot admission of various master and bachelor degrees as well.
