The year 1983 marked the establishment of the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam University (SPMVU) that is located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Named after Sri Padmavati who was Lord Venkateswara’s companion, SPMVU was instituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the objective of imparting professional education to women. The jurisdiction of the University comprises the 3 districts of the Andhra Pradesh, namely, the coastal regions of Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema.
The University receives funds for development funds from the State Government and University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded the University with ‘A’ Grade by virtue of the center’s commitment to excellence.
