The educational institution is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The founders of SJU are DMI Foundations that is an initiative by the fathers of MMI (Missionaries of Mary Immaculate) and the sisters of DMI (Daughters of Mary Immaculate) of the Catholic Church. Across several countries around the world, the DMI Foundations is working through philanthropic services, educational institutes, and Universities; and they are focused on the development of youth, children, and women while having lofty social responsibility levels.
As part of the center’s learning, the education is student-centered and aims at employable education in the face of ever-changing global scenarios. In turn, the pupils can develop their careers, earn their livelihood, and become responsible citizens.
The institute’s curriculum lays emphasis on enhancing the capabilities of the students for bridging the gap between education and employment. Also, the education that is followed is the choice-based credit system that provides flexibility to the students to choose, as per their interests, among the various intra-disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and skill-based programs that are conducted at the educational institution.
At SJU, the aspirants have a variety of engineering, undergraduate, research, and postgraduate courses to select from. The programs are offered in different streams such as Information Technology, Science, Management, Mass Communication, Science, and Arts.
The several Universities’ faculties include Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Management.
As part of the SJU’s facilities, the students can avail hostel accommodation, transport services, library, and laboratories.
