The University of Patanjali (UoP) is traceable to Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and was established in the year 2006 by the Government of Uttarakhand. UoP is named after the renowned Indian sage, Patanjali; has been duly been accredited by the University Grants Commission; and is sponsored by Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust that is, also, based at Haridwar. UoP offers an array of certificate, post graduate diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in varied disciplines like Natural & Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Studies, Journalism & Mass Communication, Humanities, Ayurveda, Yogic sciences, and Sanskrit.

As per the aspirations of revered saints, Swami Ramdev and Shiromani Acharya Balkrishna, UoP was developed with the objective of imparting ancient wisdom and conducting scientific research. Besides, the University is founded on four pillars: education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and asceticism.
